Urquhart Bluff Learn to Surf
Urquhart Bluff learn to surf is about 5 kilometers past Anglesea , just off the Great Ocean Road before you get to Aireys Inlet. It is a fantastic location to learn to surf as long as you stay in the correct area. Our instructors will therefore make sure you keep away from a potentially dangerous rip near the rocks on the right.
Wye River Learn to Surf
Wye River learn to surf is a beautiful beach along the “must drive” Great Ocean Road. It is a perfect location for teaching surfing with gentle easy waves. There is also a great cafe and pub, and plenty of accommodation just opposite the beach. Wye River is a small popular coastal town where the bush meets the sea, about 20 minutes drive past Lorne, on the Great Ocean Road.
Great Ocean Road Surf Schools
Great Ocean Road Surf Schools have fantastic locations that are ideal for surf lessons or surf hire with many beaches and waves, making the Great Ocean Road one of the best spots to learn to surf. The Great Ocean Road region has some of the world’s best surf spots. Most famous of all is internationally known Bells Beach, home to the annual Rip Curl Pro event as part of the Association of Surfing Professionals world tour.
The coastline from Point Lonsdale to the 12 Apostles has surf spots all the way along it. You’ll know when the surf is pumping, because all car parks along the Great Ocean Road will be full of local tradie’s vans and utes – they down tools for the day to capitalise on the good conditions!
There are lots of gentle coves and bays with easy waves terrific for beginners. There are also a number of locations that are strictly for high level surfers only. If you are new to the area and need advice, please ask one of our friendly staff members.
Our surf school specialises in daily, beginner surf lessons. Group and private lessons are available on request. Our surfing lessons are all run in waist deep water, because we want to keep it safe for beginners.
Many beaches have surf club patrols or lifeguards on duty in Summer and we recommend beginners to always surf there. But please do not surf between the red and yellow flags as these are a safe area for swimmers ONLY.
